T.D. Epps, the founder of Epps Plumbing & Heating, Inc., grew up in Ardmore and attended Lower Merion High School. After serving in the Marines in WWII, he took a watchmaker's course, drove a truck for Lee Tire, and worked for Sayer Golf Clubs making golf clubs before he began his plumbing career with John L. Gray Plumbing in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. After the Galligan Brothers bought out the company, Ted attended apprentice school, attained journeyman status, and finally earned a master plumber license in 1958.
T.D. Epps Plumbing & Heating was started in 1964. Early advertising included direct mail and ads in The Suburban and Wayne Times. The business provided 24-hour emergency service, and the business grew. Ted rented a garage on East Conestoga Avenue in Strafford before buying the current shop at 132-A Plant Avenue in 1973.
Alan Epps is a second-generation Registered Master Plumber. After graduating from Radnor High School, Alan went directly into the family business, enrolling in trade school and earning his Master Plumbers License in 1984. He bought the company from his father and established EPPS Plumbing & Heating, Inc., in 1995. Alan has old-fashioned work ethic combined with modern plumbing techniques. His intuitive knowledge of plumbing allows him to diagnose and fix problems quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
Shaun Epps is a third-generation Registered Master Plumber and joined the family business in June of 2013. In addition to attaining status as a Master Plumber, Shaun has a Bachelor of Science in Operations Management from the University of Delaware and previously worked for a large facilities management company.
